Why use Drystick traps ?

Sticky traps are an important tool in pest management providing;

  • Early identification of flying insect pests and indication of pest levels
  • Guide for when to introduce beneficial insects
  • Guide for timing of spray applications
  • Guide to numbers of flying beneficial insects present such as parasites and predators
  • Drystick traps are very effective at monitoring pests.  They are double sided with 4 removable panels.  This enables the trap to be used over 4 weeks by releasing one panel per week
  • The glue used on Drystick traps is also easier to handle than Wetstick traps

How to use Drystick traps:

For high growing crops such as Aubergine, Cucumber, Pepper and Tomato, place just above the head crop.  The traps should be raised as the crop grows.  Traps can also be placed near vents or doors to monitor and catch the flow of new pests into the crop.  For low growing crops such as pot plants or bedding, place the traps above the plants or support by canes in the crop.  Once in position, peel off the paper release papers, one at a time for extended monitoring or all at once to expose the maximum catch area.

See the œcos colour guideline for which colour trap should be used for different pests.

Rate of use for Drystick traps:

Monitoring guide - 1 trap per 100 square metres

For Mass catching - use Wetstick traps or Rollertrap
